To maximize production, wells can be chemically stimulated to increase throughput. Speciality intermediates such as friction reducers, foamers, de-foamers, sand dispersants, surfactants and packer inhibitors are used to enhance production.    

Stimulation is also known as acidizing, enhanced oil recovery, hydraulic fracturing and well workover. Whichever term is used, the end goal is the same: improving conditions to maximize the flow of hydrocarbons out of the reservoir and into the wellbore.
